Women in Seribu Islands Encouraged to Adopt Appropriate Technology

The Seribu Islands Sub-agency for Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control (PPAPP) held an online event featuring an innovator gathering and a showcase of products developed through Appropriate Technology (TTG) guidance programs.

The technology is simple

Head of the Sub-agency, Simon Baginda Pardomuan Panjaitan said the activity aims to foster the creation of innovations that are practical, beneficial, and hold economic value for the community of the Seribu Islands.

According to him, appropriate technology (TTG) is an innovation that is close to the community and capable of delivering tangible benefits in daily life.

"The technology is simple, easy to implement, affordable, and capable of addressing the real needs of the community," he said, Wednesday (9/2).

The event was attended by more than 100 participants, comprising representatives from districts, urban villages, the PKK Mobilization Team, and Dasawisma cadres from across the Seribu Islands Regency.

Two speakers attended the event namely Ajat Sudrajat, a lecturer and expert in Engineering Physics from the National University (UNAS), and David Larumunde from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

"It is hoped that this activity can be implemented and provide opportunities for the development of business units based on research results and technology," he hoped.

Meanwhile, Ajat Sudrajat, a lecturer and Engineering Physics expert from the National University, stated that good technology does not necessarily have to be sophisticated, but it must be capable of delivering a direct impact on society.

According to him, one of the key topics of discussion is the processing of marine products to enhance economic value-added for the community.

"By leveraging the abundant marine resources of the Seribu Islands and employing proper processing methods, the fishermen's catch can be transformed from raw produce into competitive products with higher market value," he stated.
